Quote: "A Wigan MP is at the centre of a "smear" row which has hit the Commons.
Cabinet Minister, Andy Burnham, MP for Leigh, said human rights campaigner Shami Chakrabarti had been "seduced'' by former shadow home secretary David Davis's opposition to 42-day detention and that they had taken part in late night "heart-melting" phone calls.
But Ms Chakrabarti hit back at the Culture Secretary today for trying to "smear" her association with the MP who resigned last week."
Far left 'British hating' Burnham, went on to say about the 'lovestruck' Mr Davis that he found something "very curious in the man who was – and still is I believe – an exponent of capital punishment, having late-night, hand-wringing, heart-melting phone calls with Shami Chakrabarti!"
Mr Davis, who is fighting a by-election on the issue of civil liberties after resigning yesterday in protest over 42 days, attacked Mr Burnham last night for indulging in "personal smears and lies".
In a letter to the Culture Secretary, Ms Chakrabarti said: "I must say that I find this behaviour curious, coming as it does from a Cabinet Minister; let alone someone with a partner and family of his own."I look forward to your written apology as I'm sure does Mrs Davis.
A grovelling spokesperson for lecherous Mr Andy Burnham MP spewed this nonsense in his defence; ''An interpretation has been placed on Andy's remarks that he did not intend.''His comments related to politics and nothing else. He regrets if any personal offence has been caused.''

My own personal thoughts on the 42 day detention is summed up perfectly by the British National Party's Deputy Chairman, Simon Darby's comments published in The Times:
Simon Darby, the BNP’s deputy leader, said yesterday that the far-right party shared Mr Davis’s opposition to the Government’s 42-day detention plan for terrorism suspects.
“We would argue that these people [jihadist extremists] should not be in the country in the first place, but if the price we have to pay for the accommodation of millions of immigrants is the scrapping of our ancient rights, then it is not a price worth paying,” he said
And I'm sure Simon won't mind me sharing these words taken from his own blog:
Special Branch are currently tracking 4,000 potential Islamic terrorists across the country, but are resigned to the fact that it is just a matter of time before one gets through. They are also acutely aware of the huge groundswell of support for the British National Party and have a strategy to neuter any moves by the BNP to politically capitalise on any future terrorist atrocity.
There you have it and whilst the above may surprise a few people, it should come as no surprise whatsoever to those of us that have been around for a while. Make of it what you will, but it seems to me that when the multiracial experiment eventually starts to go supernova, having warned and successfully campaigned politically on the folly of enforced social engineering merits a good enough excuse for New Labour to lock you up for months. In other words becoming the political opposition, and I mean real opposition, is to become, in effect, a criminal offence with a mandatory jail sentence.
